IRTA SCHOLARSHIP FUND: JCRTA members contributed $557.00 in 2010.

MISCELLANEOUS/POSTAGE:  Members contributed $116.50 to help cover JCRTA expenses.

DOLLENS ONE ROOM SCHOOL HOUSE NEWEST PROJECT:   1850 era renovated Dollens one room schoohouse is located between Needham and Webb elementary schools in Franklin. It is not being used to its potential due to the following reasons:

(1) It does not have a nearby restroom.

(2) it needs volunteers to act as school marms/masters for present-day students to have 1850 era school experiences based on today's state standards. JCRTA and Franklin Community Schools are working together to address these needs.

OUTDOOR RESTROOM HAS BEEN COMPLETED AS OF OCTOBER 21, 2011.  Thanks to a major financial donation from a JCRTA member, and with cooperation of the Franklin Community School Corporation, a restroom for the Dollens one-room school is no longer an issue. The general contractor, Mr. Gary O'Neal, built the building by himself and did an excellent job.

WE NOW NEED TO ADDRESS THE SECOND ISSUE:   Volunteers are needed to be school marms/school masters when a class wants to use the Dollens one-room school.  Training for the part will be done by retired Needham elementary teacher, Mrs. Amy Nance. If interested, please call her at 317-882-1846 or Mary Margaret Webb at 317-738-3116. Either one will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

JCRTA VOLUNTEERS HELP IRTA:  On the second Friday of most months, JCRTA members help the Retired Teachers Association for about two+ hours. We start at Noon in the downstairs meeting room at the Johnson County Historical Museum in Franklin.  A free lunch is provided. Activities often include folding, stuffing, and putting mailing labels on envelopes. There are usually 10 -15 people who regulary participate.  If interested in participating, call Dr. Mary Margaret Webb at 738-3116.  Most of those who have participated in these activities since December 2009 are listed below:
