Welcome to the the website of the Johnson County Retired Teachers Association (JCRTA) of Indiana. The purposes of the JCRTA and this website are to:
A. Serve and support Indiana retired educators living in Johnson County, Indiana and those who retired from any of the Johnson County public schools.
B. Be an active and supportive affiliate of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association (IRTA) The two organizations work together to promote membership, legislation, and other projects designed to improve the economic and social status of Indiana retired educators. Information concerning the IRTA can be found at www.retiredteachers.org You can also click on the membership tab above for additional information.
How does IRTA benefit Indiana retired teachers:
1. IRTA annually lobbyies the state legislature for a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). Our state legislative process must approve a COLA. Due to the economy this has not happened since 2008. IRTA will annually continue to request a COLA.
2. IRTA annually lobbies the state legislatue for the 13th Check and a COLA. Indiana retired teachers have received a 13th check and/or COLA for the last 29 years due to the efforts of the IRTA and its members.
3. IRTA monitors and opposes any possible legislation that might be harmful to the pensions or welfare of Indiana retired teachers.
4. Provide a wide variety of member and associate member benefits. Visit www.retiredteachers.org for a complete list of available benefits. IRTA has been representing the retired educators of Indiana since 1950. It is the TRUE voice of Indiana retired educators and is not affiliated with the Indiana State Teachers Associaion (ISTA), or the Teachers Retirement Fund (TRF) which is now part of the newly formed Indiana Public Retirement System (INPRS).
HOW CAN YOU HELP JCRTA AND IRTA? PLEASE JOIN YOUR LOCAL ASSOCIATION AND THE STATE IRTA.
Also please encourage non-member retired educators to join both the local (JCRTA) and the state (IRTA) Please check the membership tab above for information on how to join.
